We are a group of academics working in and around the London area who share an interest in second language acquisition, as consumers and producers of research. We have come together as a group for a number of reasons: to discuss developments in the field of SLA, to explore collaborations, to give advice and feedback on each other’s research, and to pool our particular areas of expertise for the benefit of the PhD and MA students we supervise. We meet informally every couple of months, and taking it in annual turns to be Chair, we hold a one-day colloquium and a PhD students’ conference every year. The L-SLARF colloquium is a forum for us to give papers on our latest research, and the PhD students’ conference enables our students to present their research to a supportive and informed audience of SLA experts.
